A Little Behind

I’ve been busy with my writing lately. In fact, I’ve almost finished another of my long standing unfinished stories. However, i took a nice little vacation up north and didn’t write a word so I’m about a week behind.in posting. That means there will not be an update this weekend, but I promise to get one up next weekend. I’ll also be putting up some more updates to this blog over the next week and answering reviews and messages. Until then, here’s a little excerpt to whet your appetite.

“Oh, Oberon,” Titania cried, clutching her sons’ shirtsleeves in her hands as she attempted to rein in her tears. It wouldn’t be appropriate for the High Queen to wear her emotions on her sleeves, even if it were to grieve for her husband.

Jareth and Eurwyn led their mother to the body of their father for her final goodbye before they sent him off. They could feel her clinging to them and tried to be strong for her. She was always there for them and now it was time to return the favor. Each step that brought them closer to the late king was agony. The weight of everything that had happened had settled on their shoulders and they struggled to bear it.

Eurwyn was first to reach their destination. He knelt by the cold body of his father and said, “ffárwel, fy nhad.” (Farewell, my father)

It was soon Jareth’s turn to say goodbye. In a similar fashion to Eurwyn, he knelt and said, “orffwys heddychlon i dragwyddoldeb.” (Rest peacefully for eternity)

The two sons of Oberon stepped out of the way to allow their mother a private farewell. Like her sons, she knelt by the slain body of her husband. “Nid hwyl fawr am byth, fy cariad.” (Goodbye is not forever, my love)

Titania lifted herself up and, with her head raised high, made her way back down to the bottom of the pyre. Sarah had never seen someone with so much dignity in the face of heart wrenching grief. Her admiration soared for the beautiful queen. With her own husband at her side, she watched as the older woman crept closer to the logs and kindling at the base of the pyre. A complete silence fell among the onlookers as their queen created the spark that turned into a mighty blaze. She watched as flames engulfed the man with whom she shared her life and love.

“Farewell, my love,” she whispered.

On the wind, she swore she could hear, “Until we meet again, beloved.”

Can you believe it?

I have finished the final chapter of Labyrinth’s Queen and have started on a brief epilogue to tie up some of the loose ends. There will, most likely, not be a sequel to this story so I hope you enjoy it in its entirety. The last few chapters are now all in my editing process to make sure everything is the way that I would like to present it and makes sense. It shouldn’t be too much longer before they start going out to all of you, my faithful readers.

Until then, a poll for you:

Halfway There

I’ve got two of the four final chapters of Labyrinth’s Queen ready for editing. Only one final chapter and a short epilogue left to go. I’ll finish those up as soon as I can and begin posting them posthaste. I’ve also got one chapter of Solstice to start posting after I’ve finished LQ.

I haven’t forgotten to post my behind the scenes of the final chapter of Year Without. I will get that posted before I put up my first update of LQ. Thanks, all my lovely readers, for your patience. Continue to vote on my last poll so that I can make sure to update the story for which you are waiting. If you haven’t already, please drop me a line (or a review) to let me know what you think.

Finished!

I finally finished A Year Without A Goblin King. If you’ve been following it, please drop me a line (or a review) to let me know what you thought. I appreciate constructive criticism (and compliments, too). I’m working on updating Summer Solstice and The Labyrinth’s Queen and have a chapter of each of them already completed and in editing. If you’re a follower of TLQ, I posted an excerpt at the end of A Year Without A Goblin King so you can check that out. Anyone who leaves a review of that fic and asks for it, will receive a preview of SS.

I will post the newer chapters of TLQ and SS as soon as I have a few in the can. That way I will be able to update much more frequently. It’s my resolution to stay ahead and post at least twice a month in 2014.

Later this weekend, I’ll give you a behind the scenes look at the end of A Year Without.

HappyReading!

I’m back!

I thought I’d better check back in before I saw my face on a milk carton asking “have you seen this writer?” No, I wasn’t wished away to the goblins (though, to be honest, who wouldn’t think that was cool?). My husband and I recently bought a house and I had to take some more time off to get everything set up in the new homestead. I promise to get the next chapter up for A Year Without by January 1st. I’ve gotten another chapter written and ready for editing for Labyrinth’s Queen. By popular demand, I’ve begun writing the next chapter to Summer Solstice. Hang in there, faithful fans. I’ll be getting things posted very soon.

Almost there

Hello, my faithful readers. I have some good news, some great news, and some awesome news. The good news is that I have started writing again after a very long hiatus. I’ve got something started for every single one of my unfinished stories (and even one for an original that I hope to start posting soon).

The great news is that I have the latest chapter of Labyrinth’s Queen almost to a finished rough draft. I expect that this one will be posted in October (fingers crossed).

The awesome news? I have a finished rough draft for the final chapter of A Year Without A Goblin King. That’s right. It is now onto the editing stage and should be posted by the end of September (barring any time killers).

My husband and I are in the process of buying a new home. It’s my hope that, once I get a better space to write, I will finish every one of my outstanding stories and start a few new ones. My muse has been extra busy in the last two months. It feels good to be back.

Stay tuned for excerpts from the last chapter of A Year Without A Goblin King.

The Week Ahead (December 12)

Hi all,

This week I’m working on:

Labyrinth’s Queen: I’m hoping to update this sometime before Christmas. It’s been surprisingly tough to finish this chapter as there are a few surprises (good and bad) in store before the end. Only a couple more chapters left and the journey will be all over. Things to look forward to include:

  • Jareth and Sarah go into battle
  • Sir Didymus fights valiantly
  • Puck watches over Keely
  • Oberon fights alongside Titania

High King’s Bride: I’m slowly working on the next chapter and hope to post before Christmas. It’s at about 3000 w0rds and almost to the editing phase. Things to look forward to include:

  • Dinner with Sarah’s mother
  • More intrigue

A Year Without A Goblin King Interlude: Still working on it folks!

Results from last week’s poll: Summer Solstice is the story you are waiting to read. I’ll get writing!

Labyrinth’s Queen sneek peek

Here’s a small snippet from the next chapter of Labyrinth’s Queen…I hope to post the full chapter within the next couple of weeks.

“Word has it that the High King is about to storm into this Kingdom and remove you by force,” Phelan explained.

Bledig’s already fragile control snapped at the news. Phelan watched, amused, as the young Fae set to destroy the tiny room. Looking around, Phelan could see that this wasn’t the first tantrum thrown by Bledig.  The older man pushed away from the desk as Bledig’s demented eyes locked onto it. His fists sparked as the heavy wooden desk was turned into kindling. Not satisfied to leave it a pile of scrap wood, a flame jumped from his finger to set it ablaze. Phelan, no longer amused, used his own magic to put out the fire before it consumed them both.

“Nice show of temper, though misplaced it may be,” Phelan stated dryly.

“Shut up, old man,” Bledig spat. “I’ve got an army to ready.”

“Bout time,” Phelan replied. “I shall see what I can do, young pup.”

Bledig watched the older Fae leave the ramshackled room and ran his hand over his eyes. He internally cursed the world for the predicament in which he was left. Once again, he was being haunted by the ghost of his absent father. It didn’t matter to the young man that his father had no knowledge of his existence, he was still harboring a deep hurt inside.  Clearing his mind of everything else, Bledig left to gather his army. If it was a fight they wanted, it was a fight they were going to get!

Cast List

Hi Everyone,

I finally developed a blog so that I could share my thoughts about my fanfiction writings. My first order of business is to post a “cast list” for Labyrinth Queen so that you can get some idea of what I see inside my head when I’m writing that tale. Please, feel free to comment and let me know if you had a different face in mind as you read the story.
